How ranking score works
Team ranking isn't one single number — it's three separate boards, two different match milestones, and one very specific running total. This page breaks each part down.
Three things people mix up
Playing as a team doesn't instantly give you a "rank" — there are three separate concepts, and one match can move one of them without touching the others.
- Ranking score — the sum, per level, of the best team score you have ever scored there, running forever, never reset by season.
- Making the GROUP leaderboard — only for one fixed group of players, and it needs that exact group to play enough matches together.
- Earning a PERSONAL tier — a badge (Bronze through Diamond) tied to you at one team size, no matter who you play with.
Ranking score: adding up your record on each level
For every level you've played at a given team size, the system keeps only the best team score you've ever scored there — not an average, not a total across every run. Your ranking score at that size is the sum of those records, one line per level.
Replaying a level for less than your record doesn't cost you anything — the old record just stands. Only beating your own record on that level nudges the total up.
Three separate boards: Duo, Trio, Squad
Same formula, but three completely separate races — every team size has its own leaderboard and its own tier.
- Duo (2 players) — its own score and tier, unrelated to Trio or Squad.
- Trio (3 players) — a second, independent board with the same formula.
- Squad (4 players) — a third board; a great Squad tier doesn't pull your Duo tier up with it.
Two match milestones to remember
- Making the GROUP leaderboard: the exact same group of people (change even one, and it counts as a new group) needs to play at least 3 matches together at that team size.
- Earning a PERSONAL tier: you need 10 matches at that team size — with anyone, not necessarily the same group. Below 10, your rank card shows "Unranked — N to go".
- These two are independent: you can already have a personal tier (10 matches done) while your group still hasn't made the group leaderboard (fewer than 3 matches together).
Five tiers, ranked by percentile
True percentile ranking only kicks in once that team size has at least 50 graded players. Below 50, the system temporarily ranks by percentage of the maximum possible score per level instead, and switches over automatically once the population grows.
- Diamond — top 1% of players at that team size
- Platinum — top 5%
- Gold — top 15%
- Silver — top 40%
- Bronze — everyone else
A few things worth knowing
- Matches with a guest player don't count toward group ranking's score or match count at all.
- Want a tier fast: just play 10 matches at the team size you're after — you don't need to win big, just enough matches to get graded.
- Want a higher ranking score: go back and beat your record on levels you played badly, not just new ones.
- Want your group on the leaderboard: keep the exact same people — swapping one mid-way counts as a new group, back to 0 matches.
